Following Hurricane Florence, ArborOne Farm Credit’s Board of Directors approved the rollout of an early patronage distribution. As a result, ArborOne Farm Credit returned $1.8 million to its customer-owners this October. The special patronage distribution confirms ArborOne Farm Credit’s commitment that “we are here through the good times and the bad.”
Since 1989, ArborOne Farm Credit has paid more than $101 million in cash patronage refunds, which represent a portion of ArborOne’s net earnings to eligible customer-owners.
“With all of the uncertainties facing the agricultural economy today, ArborOne Farm Credit remains committed to servicing agriculture in the good times and the bad. As a financially strong cooperative, it is with great pride that we can return a portion of our profits to our customer-owners,” said Kathy S. Heustess, President and CEO of ArborOne Farm Credit. “We remain in awe of our farmers’ continued resiliency as they strive to feed and clothe our nation and world.”
Employees at ArborOne Farm Credit have been working diligently to support local communities in the wake of Hurricane Florence. ArborOne staff has taken an organized and phased approach to rallying relief efforts and has been ready and willing to serve others along the way. Efforts consist of collecting and delivering donation items, mudding out homes impacted by widespread flooding, hosting lunches for farmers, hand delivering patronage checks to customers, and selling t-shirts to raise funds for hard hit areas.
The devastation wreaked on the Pee Dee and Grand Strand regions by Hurricane Florence has become all too familiar. ArborOne Farm Credit understands the magnitude of the natural disasters that have hit the region over the last few years, and encourages its borrower-owners and members of the farming community to stand strong in the recent crisis. Rest assured, ArborOne Farm Credit is here to help not only today, but in the coming months.
